The IDEAL® Voltage Continuity Tester (model 61-557) is a versatile and robust tool. Rated CAT IV 600 V, this auto-ranging, average root mean square (ARMS) digital meter accurately measures both AC and DC voltage, Low Impedance AC Voltage (Lo Z) to minimize false readings from ghost voltages, and continuity using test leads. It features a non-contact sensor in the tip that detects the presence of voltage between 90V to 600V AC and can perform GFCI trip tests with its probes and test button. The meter boasts a backlit LCD display and a built-in flashlight, perfect for working in dim or zero-light conditions. An illuminated red LED and audible tones alert you when voltage exceeds 36V AC / 50V DC, when continuity is detected, and when the NCV senses voltage within its range. Dual-position probe holders on the back allow for convenient storage and one-handed testing. Additionally, the tester can be suspended from a nail, screw, or magnetic surface using the compatible hanging strap mount (Universal Magnetic Hanging Strap model UMHS-757 sold separately). Its industrial-grade over-molding ensures a secure grip and durability, capable of withstanding drops from up to 6.5 feet (2 meters). With features like Self-Test at each power-on, automatic AC/DC voltage and DC polarity detection, low battery indication, and auto power-off, this tester is both reliable and user-friendly. It comes with three 1.5V AAA batteries, ready to go right out of the box.
