A Type C USB cable allows digital data to be transferred between the latest USB C handheld and portable devices and for supplying power to devices that need it. The cable consists of four wires that are used separately for transferring power and data. One Type C plug is inserted into the USB port on your mobile host device eg a laptop and the other USB connector into the USB port on your peripheral eg smartphone.
