Metric sizes are 60 degrees 0.5mm to 6.0mm and imperial sizes are 0.018 in. to 0.185 in, 60-degree 48tp to 3tpi.

Using thread measuring wires is just one way to measure threads, an experienced fabricator or engineer will also have ring gauges, thread triangles and micro-meters. During application thread wires can be a little tricky to use at first but they are extremely accurate when used in conjunction with micrometers.
