Types of tips


Slotted: has a flattened tip used for screws with a straight linear intrusion across the head

Phillips: have a cross shape recess and were designed to be able to take more torque

Star: type of screw head with a six-point star intrusion, designed to ensure even more torque can be applied, in mechanical production, for example, used on objects that need to get extremely tight

Tamperproof Star: Similar to standard Star bits but have a hole drilled through the centre, allowing the driver to slip over the pin.

Pozidriv: an advanced version of a Phillips bit, a cross-shaped with straight sided flanks

Square: Much less prone to cam-out compared to Phillips screwdriver bits

Tri-wing: Three slotted wings with a small triangular hole in the centre. Mostly used in the aerospace industry.
