An IP rating classifies the degrees of protection provided against the intrusion of solid objects (including body parts like hands and fingers), dust, accidental contact and water in electrical enclosures and junction boxes. This junction box has an IP65 rating meaning it is totally protected against dust ingress and is protected against water jets from any direction with limited water ingress, making it suitable for use outside.
