The cooling capacity is the amount of power an air conditioner has and is given in a BTU rating. This means the higher the BTU rating is, the bigger the room it can cool and also be more costly to run.

Air conditioning units can control room temperature and are used in places that require cooling or to remove moisture from the air. They are used in a number of both domestic and commercial environments.

The size of the unit depends upon the size of the area of the room you want to cool. Units with a higher BTU will cool larger areas more quickly but this means you will also use more energy than one with a lower BTU. You should also take into account how many devices and appliances there are in the room that can create extra heat such as PCs, monitors and printers.

Air conditioning units emit between 37 and 82 decibels depending on their type and how old they are. For a comparison, fireworks can give up to 145-150 decibels (dB) and vacuum cleaners 70dB. These units emit 68dB.
