Hacksaws

A hacksaw is a fine toothed saw that is capable of cutting steel and other metals with the minimum of hassle. Most hacksaws feature a C-shaped frame that holds a blade under tension. These hacksaws have a handle, usually a pistol grip with pins for attaching a disposable blade. The frames can be adjustable to accommodate blades on different sides.
With a hacksaw, cutting through thicker materials can prove difficult, and the blade can become damaged or broken. Blunt blades can be easily replaced with the frames simple to adjust.

Types of hacksaws available at RS are:
  • Full sized hacksaw – Capable of cutting through a range of materials, with relative ease. This can adjusted with the type of blade installed (12, 18, 24 or 32 teeth per inch). The blades are 12 inches in length.
  • Junior hacksaw – This is ideal for small cutting jobs when space is limited. The blade is much smaller than a full sized hacksaw, and is used for more precise cutting or for applications that require a neater finish. This is due to the very small teeth with relatively shallow gullets, so they cut and remove less material with each stroke.
